Success plays a vital role in your life. It gives a sense of accomplishment and self-worth every time you achieve success. Whatever it is that you are aiming for in life, such as losing weight, getting promoted, closing a sale, having a girlfriend, or simply living a happy lifestyle, you should strive to attain it and never give up on it.
Success is important, do not treat it as if it were only an option. Often, people think of success as just a fancy stuff, or something that is not important at all. After all, what people really think of are having something to eat, clothes to put on, and a roof above their heads. Actually, that is how you should think of success, thinking of it as if it were a basic need, and I’ll tell you why.
Why you should always aim for success everyday
As promised, I will share with you three reasons why success is very important to consider and not just something you think of right now, and then forget tomorrow. As I look over my life, I’m starting to understand how success becomes significant as time passes by.
I hope that by the end of this article, I’ll be able to convince you to start considering success again. When I say success I mean “true success”, something that would be noticed by the rest of the world.
1) Success gives value to your life
There is no other way to make yourself worth more than to achieve success. Successful people are always more valuable than those who are unsuccessful because the feeling of accomplishment uplifts their lives as if they were given a nitro boost in their confidence.
Admit it, when we accomplish something such as winning in a contest or perfecting a recipe, we feel that we are on top of the world. Attaining success is like life on steroids, you’ll want more once you get it.
I know the feeling because I’ve been there myself. I was a former contender in quiz bees and I represent my university in inter-school competitions.
First off, I started as a newcomer with no idea how to win and compete with some of the most brilliant students in the contest. Every time the top three winners went on stage to receive the rewards, I’ve always imagined that they must look really awesome. So I committed to winning one for myself.
It was when I made that first championship title mine that my life completely changed. I felt more valuable because after all, that win will forever be remembered by anyone who will join that quiz bee in the future.
And you know what? I didn’t stop at that. I went on to win my second, third, fourth, fifth, and finally my sixth championship in my entire quiz bee career, not to mention the two runner-ups that I had gotten along the way.
I know it’s too much bragging that I’m making here and I’m sorry if I went too much, I just happened to love taking this steroid that you call “success” and it’s making me crazy. Obsession is the name of the game for me.
At the end of the day, I’ve made myself 10 times more valuable than when I first started. The best part? It stays with me FOREVER.
2) Success is proof that you exist in the world
When I said that you exist I wasn’t trying to portray that you are a dead person (peace bro). If you may, please allow me to explain what I just said.
Every person has been successful at one point in his or her life. I know you did in some form or another, which includes being able to ride a bike, winning a championship trophy, graduating from school, having a date with your crush, getting hired for a job, and the list goes on.
Let me ask you: What did you feel when you were attaining these successes? You feel alive and energized every time you succeeded on something, right?
And what happens if you don’t? You feel dull, hopeless, and feel as if the world has forsaken you. It’s not because you had a bad day that you feel this way, but rather it’s because you feel an emptiness inside your heart that success is supposed to occupy.
I’ve dreamed of entering a famous university here in the Philippines. Unfortunately, I failed in the entrance exam and I felt devastated. After realizing my failure I did not know what to do next because I didn’t have any back up plan for my college education. I felt that I was a failure even though I managed to get into a decent university.
It took me a long time to recover from my slump because I didn’t know how to get back on track. As it turns out, the best remedy for a failure is to create success. The way I got back is by participating in contests like quiz bees that I mentioned a while ago and bringing home the trophy.
I therefore exist to tell people a story that even though I did not succeed in being admitted to the university that I dreamed of, my sweet revenge was becoming a quiz bee champion.
I happened to face head-on the most brilliant students coming from the university that I planned to enroll in. And guess what, I’ve beaten them all in the quiz bee, which is a very wonderful feat for me. I felt very happy and fulfilled because of my accomplishments.
Because of my success therefore, I now have a proof to show to the world that I exist, that at one point I was an achiever and a champion. So my advice for you is that you should constantly seek success so that you’ll become really motivated.
3) Success might actually save you one day
Yes, that’s right. Being successful is like having a life insurance that is ready when you need it. You might ask: “But how will success actually save me?” Remember that your success happened along with the feeling of happiness and excitement that it got you to the point that you feel that you can do it again.
When you have wonderful moments in your life that you can cherish, you could always look back to those experiences and embrace the feeling from within. That in turn gives you the necessary motivation to push through in life.
Perhaps the best application of my awesome Quiz Bee profile and outstanding academic grades is through my resumé. Because of my credentials, getting a job as a college professor in my former school became a breeze. Having that job in turn allows me to earn much more than my peers, which then allowed me to afford books and trainings about business and marketing.
So in my case, I was saved from all the hassle of applying for a job because of my success in academics. I hope you get the point by now.
Save yourself. Most people don’t think of this seriously just because they don’t see the threat lurking around the corner. But when time comes that life tries to push you around, you feel helpless.
You will look back over your life and will say to yourself: “I wish I had prepared myself for this.” So my question to you is: “Do you have to wait for that moment in which you’ll look back and regret your decisions back then?”
Start reaching for success, now!
I hope you’ve felt somewhat enlightened on the importance of success. It truly is important and it should not be just an option like choosing food in a restaurant menu. Treat success as if it were a basic need, like food, water, oxygen, and shelter. Don’t let others get in your way with what you truly want in life. And when you do that, you’ll be surely on your way to success.
