It might feel uncomfortable and limiting when you put a constraint on yourself, but at least you’ll know if you try it out.
2. Don’t Give Everything Out – instead of posting one huge article containing every bit of detail, try splitting it into parts and convince your readers to read all those pieces. Resist the tendency to give the specifics with what you know and save the ideas for another article instead.
3. FOCUS and Get to the Point – what’s your objective when you started writing the blog post? Look at your headline, were you able to address the problem or question that your readers might have, or did you take a long-winded route before giving the answer? If I were you, I’d start eliminating the fluff to get your point across right away.
4. Add Images, Videos, Links, and More – anything that could make your content more interesting is welcome in your blog post. It can be in the form of images, videos, links, quotes, or infographics which can work side-by-side with written text. This is important as you’re giving your readers the opportunity to engage with your website.
5. Quality is Key – in order for short articles to work, you must focus more on its quality. You’re only writing 700 words, not 2,000 words. What you’ve sacrificed for length and thoroughness, you’ll invest in choosing the right words and sentences.
It’s a metric often referred to as value per word, and is the single most important thing you need to measure if you plan to write short-form content.
