Let’s face it: not everyone starts online with a lot of money.
The ones who have money, well, they are often afraid to invest money to grow their businesses. If some other way exists that involves marketing at no cost, they’d be glad to use it even if it takes a hell LOT of time.
Does that reflect you? If so, then you’ve come to the right place.
I’ve created a quick guide on where to market your online business for FREE. I’ll share 10 ideas of free traffic sources you can tap into for leads and customers.
Also, I’ve included quick tips on how to leverage the websites to your advantage and get the best results possible.
Number of searches per day: 4.5 billion
Best Approach: Google is definitely my favourite traffic source, which is what I’m using right now. To succeed with Google, you need to learn a skill called SEO or Search Engine Optimization. Have your website indexed and create valuable, keyword-targeted content on a consistent basis because that’s what Google likes.
2. Bing (& Yahoo)
Number of searches per day: 1.4 billion
Best Approach: Same as Google, Bing and Yahoo are two search engines that you should not overlook. Have your website indexed and create valuable content as well in order to rank higher in both search engines.
Number of videos watched: 5 billion per day
Best Approach: Videos are obviously better content than blog posts. Start a YouTube channel and publish high-quality videos with attention-grabbing thumbnails on a consistent basis. Don’t forget to SEO your videos because after all, YouTube is also a search engine.
Number of users: 2 billion
Best Approach: Join large Facebook Groups then share your content there. Also, don’t forget to interact with the group to show people that you’re not spammy. You can also create a fan page for your business (but it might require paid traffic to bootstrap your follower base).
Number of users: 800 million
Best Approach: First things first, don’t forget to add your website link to your bio. Since Instagram is about sharing photos, you need to post high-quality image posts (which can go viral) in order to gain followers (and clicks). Don’t promote too much or you’ll risk losing your credibility.
Number of searches: 2 billion per month
Best Approach: Pinterest is purely visual, meaning you have to post high-quality and stunning pictures to really capture other people’s attention. An interesting fact is that Pinterest actually has a search engine. Your job is to get high rankings just as you would do it for Google.
Number of users: 234 million
Best Approach: Build credibility first by participating in subreddits you have interest in. Don’t promote anything until you’re getting recognized in the community. Reddit hates it and you’ll only be punished for doing stupid things.
Number of users: 200 million
Best Approach: Build credibility by answering other people’s questions related to your niche. In Quora, you can post your credentials (including your website) so that others will know you. Only promote links if you think it would help solve the problem. Avoid being spammy.
Number of users: 70 million
Best Approach: Create high-quality and very engaging presentations that provide a ton of value to people. Use your best content to create a slide deck and once it’s published, you can promote it on Facebook or have it naturally seen on Google (which is free traffic).
10 .Your Email List
Number of users: Depends on the size of your list
Best Approach: If you’re already into email marketing, then you know how important it is to build a list. They can be your best source of Facebook likes, Twitter followers, and most importantly, clicks to your website. Once you grow your list, free traffic is a breeze.
Start With Free Traffic, Then Scale With Paid Traffic
By committing to free traffic as a newbie, you understand that it takes time and effort before seeing results in your business. To not get bored, you can use this window of time to understand your target audience very well.
However, free traffic can feel limiting especially if you want to expand to new heights in your business. That’s why I highly recommend to also practice any form of paid traffic.
Later on, I’ll create a list of paid traffic sources for you to consider as well.
For the meantime, enjoy every moment as a newbie because eventually, you’ll leave it behind and start becoming an authority in your niche!
